Checking For Updates

The software can automatically check for updates on the Analyzer Web Site (the sample here is from our hockey software, but the exact same process applies).  In order to use this function, you must be connected to the Internet.  If not, the software will give you a message indicating it could not check for updates.  You can check for updates two different ways.  On the Preferences screen, you can elect to have the software automatically check for upgrades every time the software starts up or you can check for it manually using the option under the help menu on the Menu bar.

If there are no updates, the software will provide a message (only if checking manually).  If there is an upgrade or a message from Analyzer Software, you will see a dialogue similar to the one below.

In order to install an available update, click the "Add" button to pick the update you wish to install.  The "Next" button will then become enabled and you click that to install the update.  You can read more information about the Update by selecting the "Read More..." link.

Please note:  You should now exit the software (this dialogue will not be shut down).  Any updates will require a computer restart if the update is installed while the software is running.

When you click the "Next>" button the final dialogue will appear.

You can click the "Install Now" button to download and install the update, or click the "Download" button to download the update, but not install it.  You will have to install it yourself.  You would use this option if you plan to download the software then manually install the update on a machine that is not connected to the Internet.

Once the software update has been installed, you may or may not have to restart your computer.  The next time you start up the software, any database updates will automatically be applied and the new version will be operational.
